“2012 ITC Championship Weekend Presented by the Avitus Group” Recap

(Tuesday, October 9, 2012 – Indianapolis)  The “2012 ITC Championship Weekend Presented by the Avitus Group” at Road America put the exclamation point on a second season for the series that turned numerous heads in the sports car world.  In retrospect, the Intercontinental Trophy Cup saw new teams, sponsors and competitors boost starting fields, contingency awards and participation throughout the seven rounds.

ITC’s finale crowned two new class champions, “Speedy” DAN CLARKE (P1) and SCOTT LEDER (P2) as well as saw the Team Championship come down to the very last race of the season as Isringhausen Motorsports will move the beautiful trophy to their Springfield, Illinois facility.

Road America introduced a new series presenting sponsor for 2013, the Avitus Group, launched a new contingency program with the “Fabspeed Dash for Cash” where $500.00 cash was given to MIKE BAVARO (P1) and SCOTT LEDER (P2).

All of this was in addition to the “Forgeline Fastest Qualifier” check for $500.00 awarded to the quickest in both classes won by “Speedy” DAN CLARKE (P1) and series newcomer GEOFF ISRINGHAUSEN, Jr. (P2) plus the various programs offered by series partners Hoosier Tires, Sabelt and OG Racing.

Even though the on-track part of the calendar has been completed, “Season 3″ for ITC will be previewed in two months at the year ending Champions Reception at the 2012 International Motorsports Industry Show in Indianapolis on December 7th.

Expect numerous changes in 2013 as new sponsor / partners are finalized plus a return to Homestead/Miami Speedway and the addition of five endurance races will become a key part of the various weekend event schedules, all insuring growth of the series for its third season…
