DALY WINS IN INDIA

Amidst a grueling travel schedule and a nap on a hospitality couch before qualifying, American Conor Daly dominated round one of the newly launched MRF Challenge 2012 championship at the Buddh International Circuit in Delhi this morning. Daly got a great start from his outside front row starting position and took the lead at the first corner from pole sitter, Jordan King. From there he was able to control the race and notch up his first win. The reigning FIA Formula 2 champion Luciano Bacheta took third place after a close race long battle between the top three.

“Maybe little sleep is a good recipe for success for me,” said Daly. “I just tried to time the start properly and right at the launch I knew I was in good shape on the run to the first corner. It feels good to come half way around the world and be able to win.”

Mr. Arun Mammen, Managing Director of MRF Limited presented the trophies on the podium.

Race two of the MRF Challenge 2012 will be held Sunday morning at the Buddh International Circuit prior to the Indian Grand Prix. Jordan King will once again start the race from pole position, ahead of Jon Lancaster, Matthew Mason, Luciano Bacheta and Alice Powell. Race 1 winner Conor Daly will start in 6th place.
